Handa-kun adds new cast members

Today the official website for the Handa-kun anime series has unveiled cast members for the currently airing series. The series which started on July 8th 2016 and is set to release 12 episodes is based off of a manga that released October 12th 2013 and is ongoing. Yen Press licensed the manga series and is releasing it digitally and in print form, Square Enix also published the six compiled volume in Japan on June 12th. The series parent story Barakamon began February 21st 2009 and is also ongoing. An anime would later for Barakamon which began July 6th 2014 and ended September 28th 2014 with 12 episodes.

The first of the newest additions is Kenichi Suzumura who will play the part of Asahi ichimiya. Other roles for Kenichi include Tsubaki from Brothers Conflict, Yoshitake from Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, Junpei from Ichigo 100% and Mikiya from Kara no Kyoukai.

Next is Souchi Nagamasa whom will be voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa who has also voiced Haruma in Chocotto Sister, Rei in Free! and Makoto from School Days.

Voice actress Shouta Aoi will voice Sousuke Kojika in the anime, more roles for Aoi include Louis from King of Prism by pretty Rhythm, Itsuki from Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation and Rui in Tsukiuta The Animation.

Finally is the character Tsukasa Komichi and he will be voiced by Toshiki Masuda. Past roles for Toshiki are Ryuu in Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE!, Emilio from Endride and Hazama from Samurai Flamenco.

A plot summary of the series can be seen below quoted from MAL:

A manga that takes place six years prior to the events of Barakamon, detailing the life of Seishuu Handa as a high school student—and a very interesting life it is.
In Handa-kun, Seishuu Handa is admired by his peers as a calligraphy genius and given the utmost respect, but Handa-kun himself is under the mistaken impression that the deference and attention he receives from the other students is actually bullying. Handa just wants to live a quiet life, but hilarity ensues as one character after another challenges his position as the school idol, and somehow comes away as a fan all while Handa is horrified and clueless.
